I was pre-med at UC Berkeley. The best tip I can give you is: DON'T BURN OUT. Don't take a ton of pre-req classes in the first term. You'll burn out fast.

What I'd recommend is:

Chem 1
Reading & Composition (but try it in a different department instead of English!)
Math (only if math is NOT hard for you)
Elective

Don't take a full load. Just take enough courses to qualify as full time. No special awards are given to masochists who survive a term with 22 units. Don't bite off more than you can chew.

Consider taking o-chem in the summer, and don't rule out taking your med school pre-reqs at community college. You stand a better chance of doing well 'cause you're competing with a less-competitive pool, you'll have more attention from the instructor and you have more time to devote to your studies.

In fact, since you're still in high school, why not do math or introductory physics at community college in the summer before you leave for UCLA?

one more thing, I saw your other question about your MCAT score. Do you realize you're only allowed to take that exam three times, and schools see ALL your results? The MCAT is not something you take for S&G's. I hope you were only taking a practice test, because that dismal score you got COUNTS. To have a competitive score, you need to get straight 10's and higher on all sections. Writing needs to be a score of O or better. And if you're a CA resident, you better pray for a score greater than 33 if you are hoping to get ito a med school in CA.

First off, simply for the reason that you've gotten a three.three doesn't suggest med-college (MD) is unattainable or slender. Medical faculties more often than not appear at a number of one of a kind points. GPA is predominant however if you happen to bought a almost excellent MCAT ranking and feature that three.three I don't suppose med faculties could suppose your a vulnerable pupil. GPA's differ for a quantity of motives. If you probably did support at a health center and even simply did a ton of group carrier. All of this elements in. Worse case situation take a pair extra summer season categories and lift the gpa. People more often than not get beaten approximately admissions to med college. Finally, it relies on the scientific college as good. Some scientific faculties have higher pageant than others. But, keep in mind now with the unhealthy economic system and obama in workplace, do not be amazed if the quantity of pupils making use of to scientific faculties drop. Few peers of mine dads are medical professionals and as soon as obama bought into workplace and handed that new wellness care invoice, they closed up there individual practices. Good Luck.
