I use all the old wrapping paper and greeting cards from Christmases before and make collages on top of my cardstock. I cut out intricate Christmas trees and other seasonal images from black paper with an X-Acto knife, and attach them on top of the random assemblage of wrapping paper. I also use stickers, such as tiny gold and silver stars to sprinkle around the whole thing. Each one is different, so all my friends know they're getting a one of a kind.

If you have any old Christmas cards that people sent you other years, cut out the pictures. The same for magazines. If you need magazines, some libraries sell the used ones really cheap. If you're artistic, you can draw them. Hope this helps. I think it's a lot more personal than the commercial ones or e-mail cards, or newsletters. I understand that some people can't do more due to time schedules, but I think for the people closest to you, you should at least include a personal note, picture, etc.

Go to the craft store and get some stamps and ink, along with some paper and scissors that cut in nice designs. I can't make it all work, but my favorite Christmas cards are made this way.

If you received cards last year, cut them where the fold is and then use as postcards. Write your message on it and you also get to send them for a lesser fee . Postcards are sent cheaper than enveloped cards. Just draw a line down the middle and put their address on one side and the message on the other. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

one of my best friends made homemade valentine day cards for our group of friends one year and they were just delightful. she used construction paper and those foamy sheets ( they look like this http://www.fabricsandcrafts.co.uk/funky_foam_sheet.htm ) and cut out shapes from them, like hearts. you could buy some green and cut out christmas trees and different colored ones for spheres and decorations. i've always been a big fan of glittery things so you can buy beads and those diamond beads they sell at walmart. you can get most of the supplies at walmart or hobby lobby. and since they're homemade, you can make them personal. have fun!

what i'd do is cut pieces from old snapshots + make collages + write something special inside.
you could also use old christmas cards or christmas wrapping paper + do the same thing. hope this helps. god bless.

Get some ornaments, decorative candles, little china junk together (or religious items--anything you like) and draw a picture with colored pencils. Add a message and your name Then take it to Kinkos and color copy it onto cream colored paper, then fold over.
