Huge question. I wonder why you say, "What was the secret of success?" as if success is no longer obtainable for you! Success comes from you. It is what you do with your life that makes you successful, living in the now, in the present, letting of past blockages, reminding yourself what you want and taking the steps to get there, be the best that you can be, be friendly and don't step on any body's toes while you go about achieving your success or your dream, remain grateful even in the face of adversity, Remain proud, strong, honest, give back to others. And be yourself, the best of yourself.

Reason of success is a secret only when something is unethical, illegal etc...
Otherwise, people boast of their reason of success, without making any secret of it... so many stories, biographies, autobiographies, etc etc.. still no one has been able to give a 'sure formula' that really works !
One thing though not a secret still remains as bad as a secret is the spiritual path, the ways of mystics etc... just because there are no takers (serious ones), only speculators and critics(who actually distort instead of evaluating successes on such goals) !
Any body who loves what he does or does what he loves is bound to be successful, either reaching the goal, or the process of doing it again and again... either way, a win-win situation !
