I am 22 wks pregnant.

I ride between 7-10kms each day for exercise (7 if i'm tired, 10 if i'm not! lol) I was wondering if it is safe for me to lift weights as well? I'm not talking anything overly heavy - just little hand held weights that are only about 2.5-3.0 kgs each?

I haven't really done weights of any sort for about... 6 months before i fell pregnant? Is it safe to re-introduce this back into my routine?

Thanks

I would think that carring that weight around for the first 9 months and another 9 months later would be enough weight lifting for anybody. ;-)

The best thing to do is get your Dr's opinion on lifting weights. Walking is still a VERY good idea not sure about jogging ( wouldn't think so though) the rest is up to you on how you feel.

i am not familliar with the weights of kg but if it's lbs i would say in between 2-5 lbs are alright to lift.. just as long as you're not over exerting yourself or causing your stomach muscles alot of stress... i would keep it to the bike for now though.. but totally check with your doctor.. if they give ya the ok... then i don't see the harm in it .. good luck :)

If you have not done them during pregnancy than most OBs will tell you to wait until you have the baby, if you had been doing it all along you would have been fine. But by all means ask your OB, dont take my word
