Crabs make great pets-they are scavengers so they will eat just about anything, fruit, vegetables, fish, flowers they love marigolds! I buy some food from the pet store too, either in flake form or pellets although they seem to like the flaked one better. Make sure they have plenty of water sources available, they have to have that, you can buy crab sponges or pillows at the pet store too, even Walmart has a lot of crab supplies. Make sure you have other shells for them to go into that is also very important. Good luck with your crabs, they are very interesting little creatures. Almost forgot something else that is important to their diet-calcium-you can give them crushed, cleaned egg shells or buy them a cuttlebone.

Crabs are scavengers, meaning they eat almost anything. Their favorite food is dead animals, or sometimes not so dead...

Your local pet store should have more complete information about how to approximate their natural diet with common foodstuffs; there are crab food pellets, cakes and powder available too.

It really depends on the individual crab. I do not know the type of crab you have.
Either way, it's cruel to capture and keep a wild animal, even if it is a crab. Please release them and go buy a crab from a pet store, if you want one so badly. Atleast then, you'll know what you have, and you'll know the diet.
