Of course it is attainable, but remember where you'll be living...in France most everyone can speak english and many are akin to european spanish. You should understand that your competition for what you'll be doing is going to be greater, and from the europeans.......and, since you'll be in europe and you will of course be american....it may pose a problem for you. You may want to endeavour upon not only getting a masters degree, but a masters in foreign relations. And, get an administrative position somewhere at a consulate or some derivative therein over in france or spain. email me if you need anything else and good luck, Jack

The probability of obtaining this goal depends on your current mastery of the languages and the amount of dedication you have to furthering that knowledge. Plus, you're picking a career that doesn't just call for "learning" a lauguage but having total mastery as in interpreter. Realistic? If you have little knowledge of the laugauges now, then the goal isn't realistic. Reachable? Depends on how hard you want to work. I once studied Spanish so intensly, that for a little while I lost my ability to comprehend English. I started thinking in Spanish and would interpret English phases into Spanish to understand them better. Truily mastering a language is very intense. Don't waist you time, unless your really serious.

If you want it badly enough and work hard for it, then you can make it happen. Don't listen to naysayers. Keep at it, stay focused, and try your hardest. Then even if you don't make it, you'll know you've done your best.
And if you don't achieve it, there will be something else you can shoot for!
Good luck!

My wife spent years getting certified to be an interpreter. Big waste of time, as there were no jobs.
