I removed the main partition on a hp 753n computer and reinstalled windows xp. when i reboot, i get a boot disk error and i have to use the windows source cd to boot the computer. is there any way to fix this? Also, i still have the hp recovery partition, but the hp recovery application is not on my hard drive to boot the recovery partition. How do i access the recovery partition so i can start over with all the original factory settings and applications? If i do this, will it also fix my boot disk error? Or could anyone help me out with the hp pavilion 753n recovery cd's? I have tried buying so called "recovery cd's" only to get ripped off.

First off, To access the recover partition on a HP desktop computer tap F10 while loading computer but before the error message.(F11 on hp notebook) If the recovery partition is intact it will load. Also dont buy your cd's from any other source than HP thats just asking for trouble.

ok what you have done by removing the partition you have removed your recovery files from the hard drive you will not be able to do a systems recovery. you may now have to buy windows xp, and all the software that came with the computer, there is no way you can get these files back
One will mess about with things you one don't understand.. manufactures make a partition that is hiden and place the recovery files and windows in this partition also this is the master boot sector. that is way you now to boot off the floppy disk,
your best bet is to contact the computer manufactures and tell them your hard drive as gone down and you now need a set of recovery disk (CD"s) and hope for the best that they will send them to you.

At start up push F-10 if that one doesn't work try them all F1-F10 one of them will take you to recovery Part, It been Awhile since I done this. Once you get there there is a Full Recovery Obtion take it and Your HP will be like the day you bought it. Now do all the update get yourself a Good Anti-virus and spyware protection..Now if your File are all not on your Harddrive you need to go to HP web site http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html?pageDisplay=drivers
and put in all your info on your computer on Software and Download info and you can order CD for about 20.00 but that a lot cheaper than buying Window all over again...
It look like Your CD are not available on the web site you will Have to contact HP
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/contact_us.html
Maybe you can try the Geek Sqad or something if your computer has a Official Window Sticker on the side...If not you need to buy new one *Window XP
