So far where I am at we haven't gotten any snow yet. Of course no one knows what is to come for the rest of the season. I need new tires and I am thinking about going with All Season tires. One negative thing I have read about winter tires is that they supposedly don't do too well in dry conditions. I never really HAVE to be in the snow if I don't want to, so I have to ask myself how much benefit will I really see and is it worth having degraded safety in dry conditions. The one benefit I see about snow tires is that (amongst other characteristics) the rubber compound is specifically designed to work well in very cold temperatures. Anyway, I wanted to get an idea of how many other people out there in a similar climate use snow tires. By the way, if I lived in Buffalo, NY or Canada (except for the west coast) I would definately get them without a doubt.

Given what you said, I'd get the All-Season tires. If you're worried about a rare time that you might HAVE to use the vehicle in a fairly heavy snow, you might consider buying a set of tire chains to put on the drive wheels.

Well I sell tires and also live in a climate that gets a good amount of snow but i would reccomend Cooper tires they have good tread design for most any conditions and if you were to buy a set of snow tires that you find sutiable then for the spring buy a cheap set of good quality tires like sumitomo then you have the snow set depending on wear for the next year it makes for a good investment

Depending on the car, I've gotten snow tires and even had studs put in them. But they wear faster and you need to replace them in the spring, so you always have an extra pair of mounted tires around. I drive subcompacts most of the time and just buy tires (tires is tires, not the best, not the cheapest) and throw chains on the drive wheels if it gets rough.

I live in ontario, 2 hrs from buffalo. I dont put snow tires on, they are nice when we get a storm and have to drive in it, but a good set of all seasons keep me on the road just fine.

chicago here, before i got my 4x4 truck, i did the " snow tire" swap and didnt even notice a difference from regular all-season tires. i would definitely use them if i had a car.

often times i'm spring, i think of that is purely the reality that there is solar and plant existence and heat temperature with out genuinely the warmth, and different circumstances i like iciness, because of the long days interior curled up with a blanket with a warm chocolate while i think lazy. and that i hit upon drizzly gray days so relaxing.

i live in jersey and we use all season tires on all 4 of our cars....go with all seasons
