You're always late because you plan it out in your head that if all goes well, you will get there on time. Life doesn't work like that.

The cure is to tell yourself that instead of having to be at a place at 8:30, you need to be there at 8:15.

If there is, then let me know - I have the same problem. I've even tried setting my clocks to a later time, but it never helps, because I know that they're fast. If by some miracle I do get an early start, then I always end up wasting time on one thing or another and I'm still late! My mother always jokes around and says that I'll probably be the last one to make it to my funeral! It sucks to be late all the time, but you know what they say - better late than never!

Are you late with everything i.e. bills, assignments, etc. or just arriving on time.
If you are chronically late arriving you may be a procrastinator. You keep yourself busy with things other than what you need to do to be ready on time. I would guess this can only be cured by taking yourself in hand and managing your time effectively. Either be physically ready to walk out the door to wherever before you start to fiddle around or set and alarm clock to warn you when you must begin to get ready to leave. But basically it making the choice to be responsible and respectful of others. Lateness is a self indulgent behavior. When your time table only affect you then who cares, but when it affects other people or your job you need to get a handle on things.
I know someone who has the same issue. She expects people to lie to her and tell her the time table is 1/2 to 45 min earlier than it actually is or just accept the fact that she will be late. To a logical mind this is ridiculous but to her it's perfectly reasonable. She expects others to accommodate her inability to do something as simple as being on time.

You don't really want to be the places you're going to. You may act like you want to be there, and you may even temporarily convince yourself that you want to be there, but if you were really serious about making some appointment, you wouldn't be late. What if you had some place to be with God himself, who was going to decide whether you were going to heaven or hell. Would you be late?
I think the cure is therapy and introspection. Figure out why you have a lack of social motivation and try to work on it.

Leave earlier than you normally would. Plan on arriving 15 minutes early. Is this the type of late you are talking about?

A habit important to break. Being always late conveys to others that you think their time is unimportant and that you think you are superior to them. That is why it is considered very rude. Simply get organised, get going ten minutes earlier than you normally would. I bet you are not late for work. Same ettiquette required. PS Had a friend that was always late...she is a lonely person now because she has no friends left to wait for her!
