The system usually comes with a network port on board. Check the details on Dell Website, they will list down all the ports you have there.

Most any PC in the last 12 years has either a 10/100mbps or gigabit ethernet 8p8c jack. Moving on, any router should work, and no, you don't need a wireless router to play games, but if you do get a wireless router, you will have to get a wireless desktop pci card, so your dimension can connect to the router.

The Dell Dimension 3000 has a built-in network adapter or an ethernet controller chip. In order to play wirelessly, you would have to have a router and any router like a linksys would do. The network adapter would not suffice to wirelessly access the internet on your computer. I suppose you get the basic idea.

The dimension 3000 comes with an integrated ethernet adapter. If you are try to connect to a wireless router you will need to purchase either a pci wireless card or a usb wireless adapter.
