Building a new machine for high graphics and the jury seems to still be out on the advantages of Sli as opposed to just spending the extra $ on a better single card. Seems to be no common concensus on the matter. Your opinion?

Well let me say this, I have looked at a lot of benchmarks and I have never seen an SLI setup outperform a single card setup of the same cost, ever. As far as I am concerned this is a settled issue, at least for now, always spend the money on a good single card.

SLi!!! wel dats a nice topic!..lol
SLi is frm nVidia and Crossfire frm ATi. it depends on ur budget actually! if ur getting DirectX 10 GPUs ie: the 8800 GTX/GTS then go SLi. or if ur going directX 9, then go crossfire as the ATi X1950XTX in crossfire mode beats the nvidia 7950gx2 by a fair margin! so! i would suggest you go SLi for directx 10 OR go crossfire for directx 9 OR get a single x1950xtx, its the fastest single solution card
