Usually rebooting gets rid of them, but if that doesnt work then try this.
You could try the System Restore which takes you back to a time when your computer was working good. Go To:
start
programs
accessories
systems tools
system restore
This process is completely reversable. And does not remove your personal files. Just go back one checkpoint at a time until your puter is working good again.
You may need to reinstall any recent software programs, but it is a quick fix when you dont know what else to do.

Did you try to close your browser?
If not, maybe your computer is frozen because of:
* Lots of open programs and processes and not enough memory
* Serious hardware malfunction
* Virus/malware
If your desktop is repsonsive at all, you can force a program to shut, though it may take a while if it brings your CPU usage up to 100%:
1) Click (hold down the first 2 keys while you click the 3rd):
"Ctrl" + "Alt" + "Delete"
2) You will see options, such as shutting down your computer. We just want to manage it. Click the "Task Manager" button.
3) Click on the program in the list so that it is highlighted (make sure the "active tab", the one on top, is "Applications" first).
4) Click the "End Task" button. It will probably warn you that the program is not responsive and do you really want to end it now. If so, click "OK". Sometimes you have to do this twice.
5) If you absolutely cannot close your browser, try using the same technique to force your computer off (click "Shut Down" button instead of "Task Manager" button in step 2).
** Here's hints about memory if you're using Windows:
- Whatever they say is the minumum requirement, don't believe it...not if you think "minimum" should mean your computer won't crash or freeze!
- Whatever they say is the recommended, that's the minumum!
- Get more than the recommended if you use a lot of apps at once or do intensive tasks like editing videos or large images
- Don't install hundreds of fonts.
I did that on a computer that *came with XP* and only 164 MB of RAM. It took my computer 6 minutes from startup to where I could use the desktop, and yes, I'm experienced and I defrag, etc. I installed 2 GB (512 should do you, but I want to put family VHS on DVD now), and also deleted most of the fonts except what I started with and a few nice ones I think I will actually *use* once in a while!

You have a login screen that is "not responding" hit the ctrl-alt-del key combo to open the windows task manager. Under the applications tab look for an entry for sbc yahoo and click on it to highlight it. Then click on the end process button at the bottom of the window. You may have to do this a couple times to get windows to shut it down.
