A proxy war is a war where two powers use third parties as a supplement or a substitute for fighting each other directly

if not u can search for it on yahoo just type in proxy war.....i think that might be the answer :)

Great question....and clear explainations below..but there is a better example...

In recent history a good example of a proxy war was the recent conflict in Lebanon. Local terrorists were supplied by Iran and Syria to attack Israel.

This is happening in some of the provinces in Iraq now...with Iran doing the same thing.
