Christmas Eve

OK - your oldest is 3. He or she is going to think that whatever Mommy says is the way it should be. So, figure a time when you can all be together and do it then. Just make sure that whoever is watching the kids is on the same page... Just be sure you're right, and the kids will b fine. Of course, this all changes if the kids will be with extended family and other kids on Christmas Day. But, I can tell you from experience that kids don't necessarily know how it all works. Christmas eve, Christmas Day, the day after... they can all work. Just look at your family and see what makes sense.

That's such a bummer to have to work on Christmas day. Maybe if you and your children could make Christmas Eve "your" special Christmas, that would be something nice for not just them, but for all of you. Also, you might want to save a special present or two for your kids for Christmas Day as well, and have a little something for them to open on the actual day when you get home from work. Or maybe, save the stockings (if you do them in your house) for Christmas day and do Christmas presents on the Eve?

Good luck to you and have a Merry Christmas.

What time do you go to work? Most kids will get up about anytime to open presents. If you go in really early, let them open some of their gifts on Christmas eve. Then the morning after Christmas put all of the rest of their gifts out and tell them that Santa was late.

Ok what time do you go to work Christmas Morning? If it is like 9am why not before you leave to go to worK? OR you could have the kids open a couple of gifts Christmas eve and save the rest until you get home from work.

Christmas eve, they can't stand waiting even until Christmas if they are anything like I was when I was a kid. Have fun!!

I'm sure someone gave you a thumbs down by accident, really, this is a decent question, and to the foul mouthed answerer, some people DO have a work ethic, and if required to, they do report to work on holidays, that is called supporting our families. Get a life, and wash out your mouth with a wire brush!

I grew up opening all but one present on Christmas Eve. The one saved for Christmas morning was often an outfit to wear that day. It was a great tradition.

Happy Christmas however you choose to celebrate.

Do the family gifts on Christmas Eve and let the kids open the gifts Santa brings on Christmas Day!

I know what you are going through. Been there. I have off this year.....whew!
