I have a new Dell laptop notebook computer, that is only a few months old, and recently the screen tends to go automatically blank almost every hour. I would have to keep manually restarting the computer. Why is this, please?

Hello. There is alot of reasons this could be happening. One your monitor may not handle the resulsion you have it set on, but being a new computer unlikely. i am thinking you video card may be over heating, or you have a virus. If you need a good virus protection that is free go to www.avast.com again this is free it may help. if it dont find anything i would send it back to dell and tell them to fix it if it has warranty. hope i helped

Well may be you shoud check the desktop settings may be it is set for 1 hour intervals. Or may be it is a safety feature to conserve energy when not in use.

LAPTOPS USUALLY HIBERNATE IF THE BUTTONS ARE UNTOUCHED FOR A WHILE. HOWEVER IN YOUR SITUATION TAKE YOUR PAPER WORK WITH YOU THAT CAME WITH IT AND GO TO ANY DELL DEALER AND MOST LIKELY ITS SIMPLE SETTING. PAY ATTENTION AND UNDERSTAND WHAT IS DONE. IN THE MEANTIME DONT FIDDLE WITH IT THAT COULD MAKE IT WORSE.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
