No more fitting than the Republican icon of the elephant. Democrats have never "officially" accepted the donkey, or "jackass" as their official "icon". Republicans have officially accepted the elephant as theirs.

The donkey, or "jackass" is an animal thought to be stubborn, belligerent, and not amenable to quixotic commands. The elephant is seen as malleable and easily trained to do what it is told.

Democrats can be proud that the jackass has become associated with their party. No quarter; "give em hell", don't relinquish principles. Republicans can be "trained" to do anything.

Yes considering what the "Jackass" or donkey represents to the American settler..a beast of burden that without this country probably would not be as great as it is..it is a very tireless workhorse, that carried /carries burdens far greater than most humans could or would. It was instrumental in discovery and winning of wars against aggressors, by carrying loads of munitions and supplies to those in need...sounds a lot like Democrats..now what did the elephant ever do for this country except appear with clowns in the circus..just like the republicans...SO BE IT ..AMEN

Just as fitting as the Republican icon is an elephant.
Destroys everything in its wake and leaves a huge pile of dung for somebody else to clean up behind after it's done.

Andrew Jackson was nicknamed Andrew Jackass when he was running for office, so he adopted the logo for the Democrats. How could he have been so ahead of his time.

As opposed to a big lumbering elephant? It sort of reminds me of Hastert.

Very much so. Lack of work ethic and unwillingness to listen.

Since there are more jackasses than elephants, yes. Hurts, doesn't it?

Very fitting. But lets not tell them because they seem very happy right now.
