need more info lol

1- press the power button on your monitor
2- change the wall paper to something that isn't black
3- check the plug
4- check the plug going into the computer
5- check your computers video card
-------noticed this was posted in laptop section try number 6!
6- if it is a laptop click on the fn and lcd/crt key to toggle between your lcd and an external monitor could be set for external monitor when none is present
7- could be your computer - do you hear the hard drive humming? is it booting up do you atleast see a dos and boot screen first before it turns black?

Simple...Your monitor burned out.
Which means you kind of got to get a new one. If its new than you should just go and replace it. (Assuming you got reciept). Otherwise, I'm not sure what the problem is.

Check the video card connections

Make sure your monitor is plugged in.
