whoever told you it was exactly 12 is retarted. It is at some point during the night. Not necessarily 12. If everyone is asleep at 12, it could be 12 though.

Well acually it has been said that santa can use his magic to frezze time, deliver the presents and be back at the north pole before anyone knows what happend. (Even though he is not real) Its just a fun myth.
