Why was he crying, because his old friends he sent to temper his son's decisions were met with rebuke possibly or that he is humiliated by his son ending a family dynasty of patriotic, loyal service...He was crying and could barely continue...it wasn't about what he was discussing, something made him snap

I respect Bush Sr. very much, actually voted for him once...without a doubt he has sent his old friends to talk with his son ...even through Jim Baker in the Iraqi study group...Bush Jr got the sort of answers from these old wise men that he didn't like...Bush Sr. is in the middle of this and by sending these men in, one could assume he thought his son may at least need help....Bush Sr's sobbing was his respect for Jeb and may be a response to the other son's failures.

Its no secret that it was expected that Jeb would one day run for president, and he was considered the 'brain' of the family. Instead we got the frat boy, and I don't think even his father can understand it. With the dismal record of GWB there is considerable Bush fatigue even in the Republican party and the opportunity of having the best Bush in office is now moot.
That could make a grown man cry.

Wouldn't any loving parent do the same? A parent wants their children to be successful. When you see one of them failing miserably, bringing shame upon the family name it would make anyone sob. Junior continues defiantly despite recommendations, and warnings. Senior is seeing history repeating itself, and it's breaking his heart. Probably Barbara's too.

He was probably crying because it was Jeb who was suppose to climb the ladder and become President. After the terrible job GW Bush has done, no Bush will ever be elected again, or for a very long time. I believe he is proud of Jeb and also very sad for him, because he will not have the opportunity to become president.

I understand George Sr crying and the overwhelming feelings he has for his family. what trougles me is GDUBYA's lack of tears about any thing. He blinks.

He wept because he was comparing Jeb to Dubya and he realized there is no comparison.
Georgie - the black sheep - will cause more wailing and gnashing of teeth from his papa if he continues to ignore all valid studies on the mess he got us into.
I feel neither pity or empathy for them.

Or maybe he was incredibly proud of his son who was winning some sort of award, but you couldn't possibly understand something like that. You need a heart to get it.
