May be you could get her a necklace or pearl... I'm sure she'll love it. Or may be a scarf... or if you know what kind of smell she likes you could also get her a spa set or perfume! hehe... good luck! for me, it's always easier to buy gifts for female than male ;)

During pregnancy women can getr really emotional and stressed out! So try and get her something that could help her relax and pamper herself. Most stores have gift sets for this sort of thing right now because it is a popular, easy to find and yet thoughtful gift. A spa set....
or better yet buy her a gift certificate for a massage palor where she can be pampered and not have to worry about anything!

I'd back off from anything overtly for the baby,,, I've had a bunch of miscarriages, and it does happen more often than you'd think. There are always the back-up gifts - Bath and Body Works soap stuff, Christmassy jewelry. If you know anything about her, try to tailor the gift to what she likes. Books are often well received. Maybe a book on interesting things to see in her area. (Get one with tons of ideas for things to do with kids, as well as adults, and you can also work the kid idea, too without it being overwhelming.)

Put together a cool mother-to-be basket or box:
- vitamin E lotion and Coco Butter (helps with stretch marks during pregnancy)
- A cool maternity top. pick one that fits her style. Oilily or Pea in the Pod are great maternity stores.
- some peppermint foot lotion. Most women get sore feeet and ankles in the third trimester
- baby books or parenting books. she can read up if this is her first.
- a massage gift cert at a spa that does pre-natal massages. most day spas and salons are including these in their services now and she will LOVE it!
- picture frames and a baby-themed scrap book and embelishements to work with for all the pics she will want to put up and keep
If you got even a few of these things for her in a really nice pink, blue or 'nest'-like basket, I bet she would really be touched. Best wishes!

Find a store she likes and get a gift card. Since it seems kinda impersonal you should make sure to express yourself in the card you give her. Write some of your own words and add that lil' personal touch. It's a good way to stay in your budget and you know that she can buy something that she really likes with it.

Get her a gift card for a store like Target where she can buy something for herself OR the baby, that way you don't have to decide!

Is she a collector? I love candles myself, she probably will to. Maybe talk to your brother for some ideas. Nix on the idea of getting something for the baby, the baby will have it's turn.

Well, what does she LIKE? does she like ducks or collect skulls? does she like to read or like a certain restuarant?go with something she likes..ask your brother, "hey, what does she want ". I'd save the baby gift until the baby shower or until the babys birth...that's when a baby gift is appropriate. Leave all the "mom" and "mommy" stuff to her mom and your bro and just strive for something she may really appreciate for herself.

I'm not sure what your budget is, but I had a thought that since she's expecting, maybe you could get her a mother and child necklace. I found one at Red Envelope that I thought was quite elegant.
Good luck to you.
