First, start her off with the basics. While she does need to experiment to find out how to put on makeup, I would also suggest taking her to a department store and having them do her makeup. I reccomend Clinique, Bobbi Brown, and Laura Mercier counters for this. You don't have to buy all the stuff they tell you to - just a one or two items that will last her a while. The rest, you can buy at a drugstore or Walmart. The best drugstore brands for teens are Maybelline, Covergirl, Neutrogena, Almay, and NYC.
I understand that as your mother, you don't want her wearing pounds of makeup, but you both have to agree on an amount. All she really needs for now is eyeshadow, mascara, a little eyeliner, lipgloss, and maybe some tinted moisturizer or concealer if she has acne. If you have any questions on particular products or colors, feel free to email me.

I would take her to a make up counter and have her color chart done. The problem with young girls wearing make up is they do not know what colors to wear or how to apply it correctly. Clinique is a great line to use. At 12 maybe start off with some lip gloss, a light eyeshadow and maybe a little bit of mascara. You can also buy her blush and eyeliner that she can practice with at home. Just don't let her wear it outside of the house. Each year add on a new product or two that she is allowed to wear. Young girls love make up and they need an adult to teach them the right way to wear it.

I think she can start now--not heavy adult makeup, but some of the glittery stuff for the lips and eyes. I saw a kid's makeup case at Wal-Mart or somewhere like that. She can start to work on her nails and toe nails also. Just a little to get her off your back. But none of the heavy stuff for about a year and a half. Good luck. You can't really say no, but you can limit it. I think the habit of grooming that goes with make up is a good thing.

This is a personal decision that you and your daughter should make together. If the decision is that she would like to start wearing it, then get her started off right by taking her to a makeup artist at a spa or a department store. Have them review application, Emphasize enhance her natural beauty, and teach her the importance of cleansing her skin morning and night. It is also the time to start with moisturizers and make sure she drinks plenty of water to keep her skin beautiful.

I guess she could start wearing makeup now. Make sure she 's not wearing anything heay like mascara. The most makeup you should let your daughter wear is lip gloss, eye shadow and blush

At least, not until high school or later. Some girls just don't need makeup because of their natural beauty. Sometimes I wish they would just stop making makeup - our skins would be better off but then the makeup manufacturers would lose money - so we're stuck with the junk. The longer she waits - the better off she will be. Help her to focus on her education and how unnecessary makeup really is.

If you meant how much, maybe a little lip gloss or lip balm. If you mean how old should she be when she starts wearing full make-up, I'd say when she's about 14. That's how old I am!

My mother didn't let me until I was 16...I think that was a good age...or at least 15. Right now you should just let her wear lip gloss. She is still young and needs to understand that she needs to enjoy being a kid. Make-up shouldn't be a concern for her right now.
