They don't it's your body loosing moisture. Your gums receed and sometimes some blood can seep out, so does the skin round your fingernails etc. Thats why they used to think that some dead bodies were tuning into vampires etc. In less enlightened times they used to dig corpses up to check on them. The nails, hair and teeth looked longer and more pronounced. My friend used to work in a mortuary and dead bodies can twich, fart and sometimes soil themselves. onh and btw, your ears dont keep growing, you're getting mixed up. Your ears and your nose never stop growing whilst you are alive.

They don't!

No, it's just that the skin shrinks as it dries, so it appears that hair and nails continue to grow.

Dont believe everything on star trek just most of it. Hair and nails dont grow after death your skin shrinks!!!

They don't, the water in the fingers dry up so it seems like the nails are growing but its just the fingers shrinking.

that's a tough question..haha! but personally,i really dont think they do..i believe there are some hormones or something that makes them grow,these hormones though,they'll be somewhat inactive by the time of death.
