Well, he was the general of the army that fought for freedom. The fact that this ragtag army WON against an army that had polished fighting skills, made George Washington, general of said ragtag army, a hero.

Well besides being a a Great Army General in the U.S. army he became our 1st President !

he made his move on trenton 2 weeks before the soldiers enlistments were up and that victory saved the revolution because most reinlested when they realized they could win

also he was the only man who new how do manage the country since its just a larger version of his job at mt vernan.

-kept his word
-honest
-loyal
-set up an example for presidents (2 terms in office, and other presidental traditions)
-was not part of any party, so at a time when the us was starting up as a newborn country, he did what was best for the nation
