I agree with you so much, for a long time I didn't have any heath insurance and when I finally could get some it was too expensive. My mother in law has diabetes and for the longest time she didn't have any because she has a pre-existing disease and it would cost her way too much to get any. Now thankfully she was able to get on Medicaid but then she has to go to their doctors and they just recently canceled her coverage because she didn't give the right papers. It is not right that Americans have to suffer like this.

but then again, you can walk into an ER, and by law they must evaluate you, and at least stabilize you. most of them are good about providing free care, or payment plans too. if you look into more detail, health insurance is a HUGE factor in driving UP the cost of health care. if it wasn't so expensive, we wouldn't need insurance...but that's a whole different story.
look at canada as an example of what happens if you do universal health care. people requiring immediate treatment to save their life die while they're waiting for their turn to see a doctor (often months or even a year after they schedule). they can't see their family doctor right away, it takes a few weeks for that...

Sorry, but this is not Canada and we are not socialists. Doctors don't work for free and have every right to make money from their professions. Although I agree they the cost of health care is absurd, there is no such thing as "free" in this country. Free would mean we pay higher taxes, and those higher taxes would go to provide us with sub-par health care because the doctors would not be paid well and will not want to perform the best service possible. If you don't have health insurance, that's your problem, but I certainly don't want to or should have to foot your bill with my tax dollars, nor would I expect you to foot my bill. It's bad enough my taxes are wasted on welfare programs for lazy lowlives who'd rather live off the system instead of getting off their behinds and working like the rest of us. Sorry to burst your bubble, but I am not in favor of subsidizing your or anyone elses health care.

Yes, I do think the US should adopt universal health care. It is a disgrace that this country does not provide health care for everyone. It is also a shame that the US will provide health care free of charge for non US residents even if they are here illegally but not for citizens.

American soldiers are fighting in Iraq so they can have (among other things) free healthcare for everyone. So why is 25-30% of the citizens in the US without health care?? Socialized medicine is desperately needed here, now.

im a nurse living near the candian border and it amazes me to see the number of people who come from canada to my place of employment to have surgical procedures done that are not considered emergency type...and by that i mean heart bypass surgery,pacemakers..even orthopedic procedure such as joing replacements which not considered life threatening but still necessary...the lists to have some procedures is astronomical....so personally i do not believe in it..
