"Follow MLA or APA style for citing sources. while web pages are not acceptable sources, articles or reports that are downloaded from the internet are acceptable sources."

what does that mean? i know i cannot use websites but can i use articles or reports from library database? Or does this means that i cannot just past the website but i need to put the website into APA / MLA format? Or if i have sources downloaded from internet, can i use those for sources? I need to be sure of what this means because this is important. Thanks!

This is an excellent site that will help you understand the proper format for citing your sources, actually, it will do it for you!

When citing your sources, you don't want to simply copy and paste the information that you're using into your report, if you do that you have to use 'body text citation'.

If you use information from websites, you can say 'retrieved electronically' in your citations.

Check out the site, plug in the information required and worry more about what you're writing the paper on!

tru alright MLA and APA are different writing formats for papers. theyre both popular format but MLA i understand is more widely encouraged especially in college so i would stick with that. you can google "MLA" and you could learn more about how to cite your sources how to type up the paper the correct way with the write font size and style and just everything like that. you could even go to your teacher or professor and they should be more than happy to help you out. but anyway when i had to write my research papers for college english 1 and 2 my teacher told me about LINCCWEB.org which is an online database which you can search pretty much anything including articles, reports, documents, newspaper articles, books, anything you can use as a source for your paper.the 2 problems that you will run into though is first you will need a username and password that you can get from your librarian. second is that linccweb.org is sort of confusing to use at first but you will get the hang of it. let me know if you need anything else

Hi, I think it means you can quote or cite from a web page as long as you have in hand the source. So you can't say I found this in a web quote from blah blah, but if you have a study for instance you can download and turn in, you can cite it. I think the instructor is avoiding have to run all over the Internet. Good luck.

It means you need to quote from reliable sources. If the New York Times says it, you may consider it to be acceptable. If some random website says it, it is not acceptable. You must get information from people who are respected, not random people from the internet, like me!

Yes, you can use articles and reports from library databases. They just don't want any .coms showing up in the bibliography.

i think it means you can use the internet for a library database but other than that you will have to use magazines, books, etc.

What this means is that you cannot use web pages.

You can however use academic articles that are available online (generally you will find these using http://scholar.google.com rather than just a usual google search).
