I suggest you getting on the telephone and calling Dell's 800 number for help. That phone call is free and they will be able to walk you thru the stuff to get your computer running again. It may be still under warranty. Good luck.

Your going to have to specify what "locked up" means, as that is not a common phrase for anything in particular. If you toasted windows, dell sometimes has a recovery partition that is hidden on your hard drive, accessible usually by pressing F11 immediately after starting the computer at the BIOS screen. You need to be a little more tech-descriptive in your questions :-)

How did you lock up the hard-drive? and what do you mean by lock up? If you have broken the hard drive or dropped it, then it is dead, and you will have to replace it, best bet is to call dell and try to get a new one from them, if you have a warranty on it, it should be fine

Losing data on a hard drive is the worst nightmare of any computer owner. However, some RAM/hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful

You can either put it in another computer as a slave drive and format it. Or you can get a windows disc and delete the parition..reformat it and installing windows again.
