How do I improve my social life?

Question

I have lived in the same area for about 14 years and going through school I have never had more than 3 friends at once. My freshman year I spent in boarding school up to my junior year. In boarding school I became a hermit. How do I improve myself? I want people to like me, how do I meet people?

Join a club for something you're interested in, go someplace where people are and talk to them, or visit the bookstores in your area.

LOL I feel the same way right about now, but I only moved her five months ago. The best way to improve your social life is to get out there and meet people who enjoy the same things you do. Join a gym, church group, sport, ect. I don't know what it is you enjoy doing, but get more active.

And as far as getting people to like you the only way to do that is if you like yourself first. For some reason people are drawn to that.

First, be yourself!!! This is the single most important quality people look for in friends. If you are trying to act different to impress people, they will know. Just get out there and talk to people. Go where the people are and in passing say "hi or hello" to people. If you see someone wearing something that looks really good, compliment them on it. It is a conversation starter at the least and it opens doors that say to them, hey, that was really nice and they will talk back!!! Good luck with this issue.

Then - Go out.
