Music is an avenue to parts of the soul nothing else can access. I assume you're talking about music, and not the corny poems that we insist on mixing with it. Music is NOT words, music is a scale of tones that when mixed create harmonies. Music itself cannot be realistically compared to any other form of stimulation.

Music actually comes from the spiritual world. Every note is from the Creator, God, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. Everything in the material world is a perverted reflection of the Absolute world. If one uses music or any other talent or item in Gods service or offers it to God then that becomes spiritualist and one becomes truly happy. Music makes us happy because it subconsciously reminds of our original Home which is full of bliss, where every word is a song and every step is a dance. Read Bhagavad Gita (Song of God) By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada for complete details of the spiritual world and our propose in this world as human beings.

OK sunshine - think this through the rest of the way - any emotion you experience is a true emotion, whether you experience it during an experience or for someone else in empathy, hence music is an avenue to true emotion whether from an experience you have lived through or one that you are seeing through some one else's eyes, words or notes.

Music is a way for artists to express themselves.

It is neither a lie or an avenue to truth.

I used to think that about movies.
I think its just "an avenue" to a different perspective than you otherwise might not encounter. Weather or not its a mind pollutant I dont know, but I would think not. After all, life is about improving what we already have not starting from absolute zero.

I think you are pining a donkey tail on an elephant. Music has nothing to do with truths or falsehoods; nor does it have to do with smells, or landscapes. If you have associations of musical sounds with your emotions, that is entirely a subjective matter having nothing to do with universal truths or lies.

like lavishly expensive yet yummy foods, music is simply entertainment for our ears, I don't regard it as a lie or truth, but just entertainment. And while enjoying this delight it's not uncommon to feel heightened emotions, just like a good scent, yummy foods, a wonderful kiss, or great feeling fabric on our cheek

Are you from the 60's. You pick the music and how you feel about it and why and when and how much. My wishing stone says no.
