I don't think it has ruined the holiday spirit but it has made people forget what Christmas is all about. I think that people should remember the real reason we celebrate this season though. Giving gifts if great. I love seeing the response when I give someone a gift but I don't think that it is right to fight and shove people to be the first to get a 20 dollar DVD player. I don't think that you should curse someone out over an Elmo doll. I also don't agree with buying a lot of stuff at Christmas and paying for it until July.
JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!!
This year I think we should buy less gifts for one another and give the gift of a helping hand, our precious time, playing a fun game together, or just taking a drive.
Take some time out for the people you love. This is the greatest gift of all!!

I'm a retail manager so to me black friday is both great and terrifying. It is a great day to make a lot of money, but I would never shop on it.
I know that for a lot of people its a tradition to go shopping with their families on black friday because a lot of people have that day off of work and school.
I think that the only way it might ruin holiday spirit is when people get angry with each other over stupid things like parking spots or the last of something. It's just not worth it.

Black Friday is the only way I can afford to buy my kids all the expensive crap they want for Christmas. The Holiday spirit has nothing to do with the presents and the tree and all that.

They do take it too seriously, but if companies would offer the item at the discounted price for the whole day instead of just for a few hours or have more than just a few in the store, people wouldn't be as competitive and mean about shopping. That's why I like CyberMonday. I can get deals at hom without dealing with the crowd.

Yeah, just the whole materialistic view that has become associated with this time of year. Maybe, at one point, it was more about being with your family and celebrating the holidays, but now it's all about getting the biggest and shiniest gifts. Kids demand toys with prices parents would have scoffed at a few years ago, but now no one even lifts an eyebrow. People have killed to get the newest and hottest items. Something is definitely wrong with all of this.

Black Friday is awesome. I'm a retailer and we do about a months sales in one day. This means more money me and more good stuff for you. Its all good. Yes, I've seen the lines at circuit city and its pretty bad. People shouldnt have to fight for good deals. They should be offered to shop at that price everyday. But thats just bad marketing

definately YES Christams to our family was a time to spend an evening together and have dinner and drinks and enjoy everyones company. our presents were mostly hand made. mittens and hats and dolls and pajamas and even toys. i gre up in a big family so we didnt have alot of money but the greates thing was seeing cousins and aunts and unles we havent seen for a long time. now Christams seasons begins at halloween. we need to get back to the reason we celebrate at this time of the year. do aetheists celbrate Christmas? you cant pray in school but you can exchange presents in the theme of the season? Christams is not about buying a present.

I think it sucks, personally. There's this huge drove of money-hungry people lining up at 4am to go SHOPPING? Come on...
People really need to get a life if they really can't deal with spending a few dollars instead of getting up in the middle of the night to stand in line in the freezing cold to go buy toys on ONE day.
I spread my shopping out- I actually try to get most of it all in layaway before Thanksgiving, then just worry about getting my daughter taken care of, that way I'm not stressed out or rushed at all.
I've NEVER gone out on 'Black Friday'. You couldn't PAY me to go out that day!
