I was talking to a friend the other night and I asked her what's the scariest movie she has seen lately and she said that they don't make horror movies anymore. So my question is what is the best and scariest horror movie you've ever seen.

BTW, please don't put Hostel, I saw that movie and it sucked.

Yur right..Hostel was wayyyyy over-rated. Try some Stephen King movies they are not all just gore - they are creepy and they have good story lines! As for something new - your friend is probably right I haven't really been impressed with any of the new horror flicks!

I watch scary movies all the time.I have had scary movies at different times in my life that changed and i didn't think they were scary anymore. Here are some of the ones that scared me at some point.
Texas chainsaw massacre (original)
The Decent
Exorcism of emily rose
Stephen King's Riding the Bullet
Dominion: A Prequel to the Exorcist
Videodrome

I could go on and on but i have dishes to do.

i am an avid fan of horror movies and you know, a lot of those movies ive seen cant give any creeps or feelings of fright, though i found a very interesting movie just two weeks ago.. SAW1 and 2 is the title, an old movie and i think it didnt clicked that much when shown in cinemas, but it was very good. here you wouldn't see ghosts or haunted houses and all... it is about a murderer who doesn't kills his victims, hehehe.... he traps his victims into a life and death situation wherein you have to decide i you'll do a certain act which is really hard to accomplish or else you'll die... hehe.. sounds complicated?? better watch it and feel the thrill!!!

Hostel DID suck, I really hoped it would have been better...

For me anything that has to do with ghosts... like The Changeling is one that comes to mind tho it is a bit old... Nightmare on Elm Street always creeped me out... I have never seen a horror movie that REALLY scared me tho... broke back mountian maybe lol

The Shining is my favorite. I support your friend's opinion, though. I think modern horror movies are more about pushing the limits on how much blood and gore they can get away with.

Blair Witch Project scared the heck out of me beacuse it looked like a home movie which gave it an air of realism. I will definitely NEVER go camping again.

i think the scary movies today are all about blood and gore, so thats why i like the classics like It, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Halloween, Nightmare On Elm Street, and my favorite scary movie of all time - Scream.
