All public schools are any more are havens for bullies and incompetence. Go with a private school if you can.

It depends on the student and what the schools are like where you live.

I was in public school prek- beginning of 9th grade. I LOVED my elementary and middle school and never even thought of private school. When I went into high school I hated it because the school I went to was vastly overcrowded, the teachers didn't care at all about teaching or the students, all the students were apathetic, and the academics weren't even that good. This is my 3rd year at a private high school and I love it. I've been able to achieve so much that I never could have if I stayed at public school. I'm graduating a year early, this June, I'm the leader of several clubs and organizations, and I've gotten into the college of my dreams with a good chance of getting a full scholarship.

Also, keep in mind that unless you move out of state or even out of country, most public schools are BASICALLY the same. There is alot more variety in private schools. Some are K-12, some only have a few ages, some are tiny, some are huge, some are religious, some aren't, some are known for prestigious academics, some aren't, some are very strict in discipline, some have alot of freedom. What's important is finding a school that's right for you that can allow you to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

Private

I have experience at both public and private schools. I vastly preferred private. Private school teachers get paid DIDDLY compared to public (which still isn't much). As a result, these teachers actually *like* teaching and *care* about their students. They *choose* to take lower pay and teach in private schools because the students *choose* to be there (are not being forced, like so many public school students who just don't care). Private schools can be much more selective about students because they don't have to let everyone in, and they have more disciplinary control over their students. Bad behavior at private school gets you kicked out, end of story. If you can afford it and you are really interested in learning, private school beats public hands down.

Oh, and I'm not quite sure why someone thinks private schools don't have sports or other activities. My private high school had volleyball (state champs), softball (junior olympic participant), soccer, golf, tennis, track (all-city), swimming/diving, orchestra/chorus, theatre, amnesty, debate, future business leaders, math/science club, national honor society and probably a dozen others that I can't remember.

Both are good schools just as long the kids want to learned but also a private would be good because they are less crowded, but a public charter school are nice and small so both kind of schools are good

This is a very hard question for parents to answer. Private schools have their positives in that they are not governed by the local school board and have their negatives (SOMETIMES not having certified teachers teaching in the classroom) Check your locals schools.

Public schools have their pros and cons too. They are governed by the school board but are FREE. If you have a great public school system-give it a try.

I have had a great experience with charter schools. They are public schools not run by the school board but by a board of directors. Parent involvement is a MUST at these schools. The charter schools have their pros and cons too. Don't get me wrong. We do not have all of the organized sports that the public schools have. We also do not get money from the state for facilities. (classrooms, gyms, sports fields, etc.)

I wish you luck. It is truly one of the hardest decisions that a parent makes. Check all of your options thoroughly!

That is a really good question. Public offers a larger opportunity to get along with the opposite sex(since most private schools are single-sex) but most private schools offer better education. It doesn't really matter what school you go to, as long as your happy with it.

It all depends on the public schools in your area and what you're looking for. I go to an all-girls Catholic high school with 400 girls. I went to another catholic school with 300 students from K-8 grade. I wouldn't trade that for anything. I love the all-girls environment. I feel like my teachers are all committed and happy to be here, as are my fellow students. Not only am I getting a great education, we have great athletic programs and performing arts as well. For example, our volleyball team has won state 6 times now. Pretty impressive for such a small school. Look into the schools in your area. You also have to consider whether it is worth it to you to pay the tuition.

Public schools are nothing special, but from my personal experience, private schools are usually worse. That's only my personal experience. I don't think the best private schools need to be tarred with the same brush. I hope some of them are just great.

depends on many things.
If you taking regular classes at a public high school. The kids in the classes just feel like shitting around, and the teacher don't care or the teacher does but gives up.Or the other way around the teacher doesn't care the students get hopelessly disappointed.
But at a public school where you are taking ap classes and advance ,than you feel that you are constantly getting challenged and you got no complaining to do.just some more work.and learning satisfaction.

But i got no personal experience at a private school.
