Anyone is available? Id start with a great playmaker that will be around for quite a while Sidney Crosby. Followed by a good goaltender such as Broduer or Turco. After that in a slim chance id hope for Ovechkin but that may be too late. so i don't know what to do after that.

1st Martin Brodeur without a dought he is simply the best guy you want he has proved him self every year in the regular season and in the playoffs which count the most, so forget about Turco no playoffs experience. then i would go after Jaromir Jagr he can do it all and hes been the best for the past almost 15 years and hes still kicking a-s-s defence id go for Chris Pronger even though I hate him for what he did with the Oilers he is the best him and Lidstrom. this is the team i would build for right now to win the Stanley cup this year or the next.and if i could bring some old school guy's back i would definatly bring back players like Guy Carbonneau, Claude Lemieux, Mike Keane, they are all great players to help win a championship.
but to build for the future i would go for Cam Ward in nets and Sid the Kid Crosby and Dion Phaneuf for my future team that will win a few cup's in the next several years.
GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Crosby, for sure. He's the best young player right now. He's a talented player. Just watch him play. He's only in his second season and he's got over 100 points. The youngest player to score 100 points in a season. Not to mention his leadership role on the team. He's got an 'A' and he's only 19. Pretty impressive considering he got chosen over all the veterans on the Penguins.
I would probably chose a good young goalie next. Luongo probably, and Justin Pogge as his backup. For defensemen, I would take Phaneuf.

my faves
Ovechkin
Iginla (though he could do better than he is right now)
Crosby
Sakic
Neidermayer and Phaneuf
and
Brashear and Larocque if we were gonna do some old school hockey, not this "new NHL" crap...
And I'd bring back Domi of the Leafs and Ray Bourque of the Bruins and Avalanche, if this were a fantasy team...
I don't have a goalie in mind at all for some reason!

you want someone to carry a team. forget baby crosby. ovechkin is your guy. then u can take a strong goalie (turco or lundqvist who will be solid for many years) or someone to complement alexander the great (patrice bergeron?) for a long time. im goin based on a 30 team dispersal draft where everyone starts all over again.
if i was stick in the middle of round 1, id take spezza or staal or a top goalie like kipper. id take a D as a 3rd or 4th rounder

i would be careful about building around a goalie. Look at the panthers, they thought they were set with a goalie, but never got him defense or scoring. I'd take a high powered scorer first.

for my first pick i would pick either crosby, ovechkin, or malkin first. then go after a great goalie like giguere or turco, then a defenceman like pronger, and then another scorer like kovalchuk or hossa
