Alright so this just happened, and I want your opinion.

Apparently my parents bought maybe 10 presents for 2 kids that my stepmom babysits. And beleive me these kids, are pretty rich...they have about 2 nanny's and I bet they're getting a bunch of presents from their parents. Anyways I was mad because my dad said I was getting 2-3 presents this year, which I thought was some B.S. seeing as how they're buying so many for someone else thats not in our family. So when I tell him, he says that I'm being selfish and that he was going to "suprise me" and that I would get maybe 5-6. None the less, I think that was a horrible suprise seeing as how it's 15 days till christmas...Although I do get his point, I was being pretty selfish, I still want to hear your opinions.....Oh and yes, I am buying them a present too

If your parents were buying these presents for poor kids, I'd say you were being totally selfish. However, since you say the kids are rich, you may have a valid point to your complaint.

That said, a person has every right to decide to whom she'll/he'll give presents.

And that said, if your parents are giving those kids so many presents to curry favor with them or with their parents, they are doing so out of wrong motives. In fact, the Bible warns against this:

Proverbs 22:16 (NIV)
He who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth and he who gives gifts to the rich—both come to poverty.

I don't think this means you can never give gifts to the rich. It's sad, though, when people give opulent gifts to the rich and famous while the poor and unknown are ignored.

Then again, you never say what the gifts are. Maybe your parents feel they are giving these kids, rich as they are, something they don't have.

BTW, when your dad says you're getting two or three presents, he means two or three presents from him & your stepmom, right? To me, that sounds like plenty from one married couple.

I suggest you have a heart-to-heart talk with your parents, not about what you're getting or not getting, but about why they are giving ten presents to these kids. Show them what I've written here. In a calm and respectful and concerned matter, remind them Whose birthday we're celebrating, and show them Matthew 25, the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats. "Whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for Me." Maybe they can return some of those gifts and give something to the poor and forgotten. There are plenty of good charities around, and I'll list some below.

Ultimately, though, it's their decision, and their business, to whom they give.

BTW, perhaps you can give some small something to the poor and needy, too.

Well, let's see-- you're getting "maybe" 5 or 6 presents.....
I know a couple of fellers who would like a roof over their heads... a woman who badly needs a winter coat and gloves because sleeping on the Chicago streets is pretty nasty this time of year weather-wise... an old man who just wants us to visit with our therapy cat on Christmas Day because he has no more relatives... and I could go on and on.
The point is, be grateful for what you DO receive, because you probably have a lot more than what someone else does- family, a warm home, regular meals, clothes, etc.
Merry Christmas.

I don't usually count the number of presents that I get, I look at the quality and the thought. Maybe mom and dad are getting you some really awesome presents and the 2 or 3 will make you really happy. Either way, you are being selfish and very immature.

If those kids need a sitter and nannies, they obviously don't get to see their parents and/or family members very much and that's sad.
You're only buying your parents ONE gift and YOU'RE complaining about getting "maybe 5-6".
It's not just selfish but, sad that you don't understand the true purpose of the holiday.

What is the point of HOW MANY gifts are received. Does the number indicate how a person feels about you. Don't you already know of your relationship with your dad. Personally, I guide my kids that if they choose to present me with a Christmas gift that it be no more than two gifts. It's when the holiday is over and how my relationship is with them all year round that's of interest to me. Christmas has gotten way off track of the true intent. You were open for opinions . . . that's mine.

you should be happy if you were my kid your gifts would be returned to the store. Maybe the gift for the other kids are educational toys to help them learn or just something small and simple but makes them feel that they are don't just being dropped off and cared for by someone just so your stepmom can have more money. It is something to show your family cares for them as more than income.
You will feel like a heel if their gifts are about $20 total and yours are $200.00 since it seems you are worried about it

Isn't it a bit rude to be counting and comparing presents? We're supposed to be thankful to recieve anything at all! It may not seem fair, but that's life...be thankful for having parents who enjoy Christmas and giving gifts! Happy Holidays!

It should not matter how MANY you get ... who knows maybe the few you get are exactly what you have always wanted...I would rather get one or two big presents rather than lots of tiny ones anyways. Now stop being so greedy!!
