I personally agree with you - I believe that us humans 'invented/invents' religion because we can not conceive of a life where the here and now is all that there is. We NEED to believe in 'heaven' or something better to escape the grim reality and the 'unfairness' of life - so we created "God" whom we can blame for all that is wrong and into the bargain, endow him with 'Santa Claus' like characteristics, to make ourselves feel better and give us hope and a purpose for living.

Santa Clause is real. Parents are Santa to their childern. Adults are Santa to their family, friends, and anyone else they decide share a gift. Reader, if you decided to give a much needed gift to someone anyone, you'd be Santa. Santa is about giving. Santa is also about giving ourselves. Some people wait around for someone else to give them that perfect gift to "make Christmas" for them. Be Santa for yourself. The Concept of God is on a totally different level. In my opinion, its not possible for the people, the world, time, seasons, etc, to fit together without their being a God. I don't see what God has to do with Santa Clause. Human kind can't began to give on the same level as God. Religion can also be just as far away from the concept of God as Santa Clause. Religion is an organized view of God. But organized by whom, for what purpuse. That's what each person has to ask themselves if they follow an organized view of God. You ask a very complicated question in a few short words. Santa, that's easy, it's people caring about others, nothing to do with a red suit, or a sleigh. God, not so easy, but still the best thing, both inside and out of this world. Religion is for those that don't want to "believe" alone. Interesting question. - Merry Christmas.

Agreed. As a child,. we are told that santa is real,. and that he watches you throughout the year to see if you have been good or bad. Growing up, we discover this has just been a fable,. a flat out lie. Now with religion,. i think this fits into the same guidelines. We are told whats right and wrong based upon the bible,.or what our religious ancestors preached in the past. Alot of people dont question what they have been told, and therefore are blind. Whos to say that they are right?

Friend , I beg to differ.
Yes. Santa Clause , we grew out of it as we grew up. But somethings that santa left in us , permanently, at that impressionable age is overlooked. One .... the grace of accepting gifts . Someone gives and we take it gacefully. This is the first lesson in "Give & Take" . Second, even as we outgrow santa , we find that regularly we are visited by other "santas" in our lives. Great friends. Good boss . Good wife.......We do not pause to realise that these great "handouts" are also having the santa effect on us.
It is for this these reasons only that we grown ups , tend tp perpetuate santa culture to our children and the grand children.
So is the thought of God . LIke the santa you cannot grow out of that.

well lets see... it would seem that we do believe in things that are so strange! kinda like santa clause, but for some odd reason i still like the idea of seing santa clause. i mean for instance i see the santa clauses ringing those bells and it makes me feel all tingly inside like a kid! hahaha... yeah
but on the other hand when i think of god i really do kinda like not tingle simply becuase im suppose to take God more seriously than the idea of x-mas. and i relate god to pain and love sadly but i do.
i hope this kinda helped.

Lots of people want a Santa Claus version of God. You pray and your prayers get answered; your good and you get rewarded. But I think that those who are looking for more than siimplistic notions of God move beyond that.
