Multiply the second equation by four so that the x-values will add up to zero. Then add the two equations together.
-4x-7y=-11
+4x-8y=-4
Add Them To Get:
-15y=-15
Divide both by -15 to get:
y=1
Place it in the second equation to get:
x-2(1)=-1 or
x-2=-1 Then add 2 to both sides to get:
x=1 Your solution is (1,1).
Have a great holiday!
