I like Toys for Tots and The Salvation Army because both help needy people tremendously without taking anything out of the till beforehand. What yours?

make a wish foundation. they always use to sell "stars" at christmas time, i havent seen that in awhile but i volunteered a couple times.
They grant wishes to terminally ill children and they granted a wish to someone very close to me before he died of cancer. It's a great cause, to give these children anything they wish for durning their unfairly short lives.

The Salvation Army gets my top vote, too. Samaritan's Purse comes in a very close second, though. They run Operation Christmas Child and deliver gift-filled shoeboxes to very poor and needy children in other parts of the world. Many of these kids know a little about Christmas presents, but have never ever had one. Some of the children actually come to faith in Christ because they are so touched by the love of someone they've never met who packed the box of simple gifts for them.

Both the Salvation Army and Samaritan's Purse see that nearly all our donations go to those in need. Both these organizations' leaders take very small salaries personally, according to the reports I've seen.

I give monthly support to a local non-profit organization that helps teen moms. This programs enables these girls to have vitamins while they are pregnant, coaching during birth, life skills programs, scrap-booking, community kitchen & drop in. Most of these girls come from broken homes, or have a parent or both addicted to drugs or alcohol. Twice a year, there are special events. One for Mother's Day and one for Christmas. I help with the luncheon and also bring in some door prizes. I try to do as much as I can.
It's hard enough being a single mom, but being a single mom at 15 is the hardest. I thank God that there are caring people out there.

My small local community started an organization after the bad fires in 03 called Restoring Mountain Hearts and Lives. They are dedicated and caring people. Each case (family or individual) is helped with their specific needs. I prefer this organization because of the personal attention they give to the needy.

anything that dontate food and food alone. too many people take advantage of the help out there and collect when they shouldnt be. we used to do adopt a family when I was in high school and we got a family once with 5 kids, both parents and neither work. neither were disabled either. they just didnt work. why cant you go out and get a job? work at a Mc Donalds if you have to. at least your making an effort. then I wouldnt mind helping. but why should I help someone who sits on their butt all day? I donate food because thats what people in need truely need. they dont need toys for thier kids. my husband never really got anything for Christmas as a kid. just a few cheap toys from a dollar store. he survived because he was fed and clothed first.
