It always seems to happen that some people cannot be the shoulder you so desperately need to lean on but then again wouldn't you rather find that out sooner than later. More friends will come true friends, you just have to say it was for the best you find out now before you were at the point of breaking and the left before putting you back together.

Yes. When I separated & got divorced, I lost most of my friends...many people said it was because they were mostly guys (we were car buffs) & that guys stick with guys (even though he caused the split - messing around). It hurt for a while, but then...I actually was glad later. I was free to start over with people who never knew me as a 'couple' person, and never had to hear about old times & when they ran to him, etc. This was liberating! I am happy it turned out this way, in the long run.
So, whatever you are going through now - the payoff may be later. Hang in there.

Yes, I had to move to another state when I was 16 and I didn't want to. Before I left, my friends gave me their addresses so we could keep in touch. I wrote them letters but they never bothered to write me back. So yes I did lose some "friends" during a hard time in my life.

When I stopped drinking I lost a lot of friends. It was hard to understand and even harder to accept. I couldn't imagine how it turned out that way. They became uncomfortable or something. Some of them I had known for 20 plus years.

Yes, and of course I realized they weren't really friends at all. Some people are into "fixing people" not friendship.
When times are the worst for me I just need someone to hold my hand and help me look for God. I do have friends like that.....and they are the best of the best.

Lost friends, lost a job, lost pretty much everything!! The friends part was rough... it was due to divorce... they were coupled friends and really didn't know how to react to everything going on. They didn't want to take sides, so I guess the only solution for them was to disconnect.... I have no ill will toward them, it was a difficult situation!!

I almost died and was in the hospital for two months. When I got out, people that I let move into my home during their troubled time when I was healthy, had taken over. They had stolen what little money I had and had put themselves on my lease for my home. They ended up kicking me out of my own home when I was released from the hospital. thanks guys,
I then moved onto the couch of a childhood friend, who had recently divorced, at his request. He flipped out because, he too was overwhelmed, he had lost his grandmother and grandfather within a years time. I was five months out of the hospital and he started acting aggressively towards me. I moved off his couch and we have not spoken since.
I then made the biggest mistake and took my frustration out on a beautiful soul. She lost trust and love that she had for me in one night. I had spoken too her in very unkind ways and had used shame full language. We have not spoken since. I only sent email with an apology, she excepted. We are no longer friends.

Yes...but this made me realize who my true friends were all along. True friends will stick with you through your hard times which tends to be very few for myself.
