That happened one year - I was sad, I just couldn't believe it. I have since refused to join them for christmas ever and they are all "oh no"..they can stick it.

This is a typical situation for a Single Parent -- they sacrifice, they give, they sacrifice some more -- all so that their children can have a home ...
Throughout the years, the time goes by -- do the children know ... do they realize ...
That momma who's working, so hard day and night
Has nothing for herself -- on this long winter's night
Under the tree, in the room by flashlight,
She WRAPS all the gifts for the children that night
Crying softly, she walks through the house
With freshly wrapped gifts, quiet like a mouse
Another load of laundry -- the dishes, oh my
4 more loads 'til she can sleep to-night
No one to help, no one will care
she works day and night, and asks: "Will anyone care?"
Then tired she falls
asleep in the chair
knowing that 2 hours
is all the rest that she dare
Have in the home -- for this day has arrived
and children -- excited, run around and decide
to scream and awaken
the tired, single mom
demanding the presents
not noticing that one
HAS nothing with her name
Under the tree
and that is the same
as it was and will be
As long as she's caring
alone that's the way
that she'll find the house
on a Christmas Day.
Remember ... think ... the Single Mom has no choice ... she MUST go on forward, because they rely ... on her Strength and her Income ... for their very lives.
REMEMBER the Forgotten -- the Unsung this Christmas Time --
The Single Parent, who has NOTHING ... and is FORGOTTEN ... for years and years ....

Honestly, I really do love giving gifts at Christmas and while I'll always manage to get some very thoughtful gifts, I don't think I would feel all that badly. It's human nature to feel 'left out' if you traditionally exchange gifts or whatever and then get no acknowledgment, but I seriously doubt that it would be all that disappointing to me. I never ask for anything anyway. I once dated a girl who had very little and she could not spend any money beyond her limits so I insisted that she not spend money to get me anything even though I would get her nice gifts. She would 'light up' with even the smallest thing and that was worth it all.
There is so much more to Christmas than the gifts.... especially when you have children.

Well...I would not be angry because that's immature. But, I would certainly be sad. I mean, sure, its all about the giving, which is why I would expect someone to "give" to me since I'm also out there "giving" to make sure others are not left out. People talk about no, I would buy myself something or that it is not receiving that Christmas is about. Well, let's let everyone stop giving and see what happens. We get caught up in the gift receiving too. Our worlds won't end but if it ever happened to you, you would be like a kid, disappointed!

No- there's been many a year when I've received nothing for Christmas. Yet, I continue to give. I'm often happy with a Christmas phone call or a card, since Christmas is about the giving, not the receiving.

No I would not because I do not celebrate Christmas and haven't done so since I was 4 years old. I actually would feel a sense of relief. That why I won't feel bad for not giving a gift back.

If I received no gifts - Anger would not be the adjective. I give gifts to my wife and children as well as friends and others. I expect nothing in return. I have most material things I want and I don't expect others to round off my list. I get all my happiness from seeing that I made others happy.

I would be VERY, VERY sad because I would feel like nobody loved me and I wasn't wanted.
Hope that you aren't looking at that possibility; Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

No because Christmas isn't about the presents it is about the people you love and the birth of Jesus.
