as you can see the background of the icons' text is black, how do i change it, so it's the wallpaper underneath it.

right click on your desktop select "Arrange Icons By" and then uncheck "Lock Web Items on Desktop"

You cannot change it to transparent. You can set it to a similar blue by:

Right-click > Properties > Appearance Tab

Change the Deskop Colour. On my Windows 2003, I have to click an Advanced button to get to the colour settings, but for some reason I think in XP it's all right there under the Appearance Tab.

Right click the desktop, go to properties. When you get there hit the desktop tab, choose a background and apply and hit okay.
You can also choose a background by going to pictures and right clicking what picture you want and then selecting set as desktop background. Good luck!

you can use the previous answer, but if that doesnt work then right click the desktop, go to arange icons by, and deselect lock web items on desktop.

Rightclick my computer
Properties
Advanced
Proformance (settings)
Scroll down to the bottom, check "use drop shadows"
Click Apply
