I just moved into a 2bedroom with a girl I found on Craigslist, and I found out that she's been going into my room when I'm not home and looking through my stuff and acting like it's her own room. I confronted her once and told her that if she needs anything, to just call and ask before going into my room. I keep my door closed because I like to keep my room private She apologized and said she would never go into my room when I'm not home. I gave her the benefit of the doubt. But I was still weary, so I installed a software that records a video whenever there's motion. I caught her one week later coming into my room, snooping in my closet, trying to get on my computer, and looking through my stuff. How should I handle this situation? I just installed a lock on my door, is there anyway I can get out of a lease?

If the snooping isn't malicious, you might consider locking your door so that she can't go in without permission, and move out when your lease expires. She may be an otherwise nice person who has different sense of personal space.

If you don't think that that's the case, or she is in otherwise an unacceptable roommate, call your landlord about the lease. (S)he may allow you to find someone to replace you. That probably holds true even if your roommate is your landlord. In the mean time, lock the door and try to make the best of the situation. And there is a lot of fun to be had with snoopers. A quick trip to the sex shop, the bdsm store, or the local army surplus store, combined with carefully orchestrated erratic behaviour and slips of the tongue... you could make those videos of her snooping into party-quality entertainment!

You might also google: how to get rid of your roommate. There are some veeeeery helpful lists out there (e.g., 100 ways to annoy a roommate, 50 ways to annoy a roommate...). Hours of potential fun if you have to sit out your lease. Don't let it get you down.

So you got this girl going through all your stuff right and you wanna get outta that place? Let her find something that she won't want to see. Be creative. Find out what she absolutely hates and get a whole drawer of it. If shes afraid of mice or something, bring home a new friend for her to play or perhaps even sleep with. Drive her out of the house and when youre looking for a new roommate, choose wisely.

She will continue to go through your stuff. Talk to the landlord. Explain the situation. Tell the landlord you are going to move due to her snooping in your room and you no longer feel comfortable with a snoop going through your belongings. Explain that you want to move because you don't want to have to monitor her every move in your bedroom.

you cant get out of the lease but you sure can get HER out of the lease. confront your landlord with the situation. tell him you already confronted her with it and the problem still persists. he may fine her the first time and will most likely kick her out the next time.

Check your local laws re: the lease, and confront her with the video (but don't let her have it, of course).

Bummer situation, hope you get it ironed out.

Put a lock on the door that requires a key, and don't give her a copy of it.

Its too bad we live in a police state that you cant just handle this yourself by punching her in the nose without going to jail.

I would say......punch her in the nose and kicq her asq. then she will move out and violate her lease.

No, that's not ok so you might snoop in her stuff. except she has given you show permission to pass into her table any time you prefer a pen or something you're able to desire to by no skill touch something on her fringe of the room. it quite is a important breach of have faith. while i grew to become into in college we had an "honor code" with an "honor board". It grew to become into like a jury produced from college and scholars. One student ought to take yet another in front of the honour board for stuff like what you're doing. it quite is her stuff - go away it on my own. And no - that's not your job to verify she gets up. i think of you ought to make that sparkling to her. She is an person with an alarm. you ought to speak to her approximately this undertaking and approximately how demanding her alarm may well be while she shall we it ring. communicate together with her. i'm modifying this to function yet another theory: that's significant to set floor regulations on the subject of property in a shared area as small as a dorm room. you're able to desire to tell one yet another what's alright to the touch and what isn't ok. something like "you may watch one in all my movies any time you prefer" or "i might get exhilaration from it in case you probably did not touch something in my closet." while i grew to become into in college i might come decrease back from classification or paintings to locate my roommate observing one in all my movies, listening to one in all my CDs, or examining one in all my books. And that grew to become into ok when you consider that we would advised one yet another shall we do this. a different roommate permit a neighbor borrow a number of my CDs mutually as i grew to become into out and that grew to become into not ok. So basically communicate with one yet another.
