An IPOD can let you listen to downloaded copyrighted music that usually requires a subscription, in essence your paying for the songs. With an mp3 player you can upload to your mp3 player from your home pc any songs that you have previously converted to mp3 and in some cases windows media files. So if your looking to download songs that you dont have, go with the IPOD, if you're looking to listen to songs from your personal library, go with the mp3 player.

the only diff. is that an ipod is made from apple and and the mp3 isn't. also, it holds more songs. it's really stupid why they did that- instead of putting all of those songs on the mp3's. trust me, i have an mp3. and my bro has an ipod.
