Dear Friend, In the first place what was the need for the anti depressants? Depression? If you didnot tackle the root cause of depression, in any case , one would go towards the self destruction point. May be , just may be, these anti whatever they are, give you a little more time to come to grips with the root cause of depression.
I would , rather , attempt to find what is causing the depression and take a non medical route to get over the same permanently. Yoga. Regulated breathing called Pranayama. Art of Living course on self correction. Try these FIRST.

You're interpreting this wrong.
Some medications for depression cause certain people (especially adolescents because their hormones are by nature not entirely balanced) to have severe fluctuations in the balance of mood chemicals in the brain.
These people do not have more suicidal thoughts, they are however more likely -- because of this imbalance -- to actually commit suicide.
Psychiatrists are full aware of this, so these medications are NOT prescribed to those most susceptible.

It's rediculous when you listen to the side effects on commercials for medications. Sometimes it's better to go without them I guess.

yes my fathers cousin suicided after being treated for few years, they said it was side effect.
I got worried, cause i was getting a treatment for depression, i asked my Doctor about the side effects and she said there were only minor.
I got worried, for i had not seen any improvement in myself, so finally i stopped it.

I find it terrifying, 'Cause I was once on anti-depressents in middle school and my dad took them for years.

The pharmacuetical industry is not here to help us, but to make a LOT of money. We don't need happy pills, or magic pills to change our state of mind and become mindless drones.
There are ways to combat depression that involve some inner work.
