Gloria and her husband Michael had a surprise for her parents. They had met, guess who, an evangelist named Reason, who was going to come over and spread some holiday cheer that evening. Archie was not enthused. The second he heard there was a guy coming over, Archie went upstairs to bed. "But Archie," Edith asked. "Why won't you listen to Reason?" He just grumbled in reply. With that, Michael went in and turned all the lights on. "Now, you're going to come down and have a nice friendly chat. It's the neighborly thing to do, and I'm not leaving until you do!" Archie groaned. "Geeze... It's the middle of the night and I have to listen to my Pinko son-in-law." Nevertheless, Michael was true to his word, and finally Archie gave in. Downstairs, Reason had arrived. "Archie just seems unhappy," Edith said. "Do you think you can give him a little encouragement or something?" Reason nodded. The second Archie sat down in his chair, Reason stood and began talking. "Archie, you're unhappy. And you only have to change. Ask the good Lord to help you change! If you're gonna have the change of life, you gotta do it right now. I'm gonna give you just 30 seconds. Now c'mon and change!" Archie sat back, aghast. "I don't believe this. He's making me crazy!" he said as he suddenly stood. "I'll be happy if you'll let me go to bed!" He turned and started to go back upstairs, but Reason took him by the arm, and Edith started pushing him back. "You're killing me, Edith!" Archie groaned. Edith shook her head. "You sit down and be polite!" Archie refused and started really trying to get out of Reason's grip, waving his arms and kicking like mad. Reason cried, "The Lord wants you to come to him on your knees, not wigglin' and jigglin' 'til your parts fall off!" Archie laughed. "Look..." he stopped and pleaded. "Look... I'm happy. I'm happy. Can I go to bed now?"
"Yes," Edith allowed. "But you have to remember to say your prayers first."
