Honestly, if your parents don't want a dog, it is best to not have one. Having a pet costs money. Unless you have a job and can pay for both food and vet care, you shouldn't take on a pet. Maybe what you can do in the mean time is to volunteer in a local shelter or humane society so you can at least find out first hand what is involved in taking care of a pet. Not only that, it gives you the chance to have the contact with the pet without the financial burdon. And it's a really good cause.

Tell your parents that having a dog teaches you responsibilty. Because it does. Then, prove that you want to be responsible by being good, getting good grades and doing chores around the house. You may be able to convince them...good luck.

p.s. If you can't get a dog despite any amount of pleading, have you thought about another pet? Cat, hamster etc?

They said no didn't they? They probably think you're too young. A dog is a big responsibility, so a good start would be to show them that you are responsible by doing your chores or homework without being told to, things like that. But do not push the issue. Continuing to nag them for a dog will just prove their point that you are not ready for one.
