I came across something a few minutes ago that just made my jaw drop! These parents named their baby girl....

...get ready for this one!...

...drum roll....

...and the name is...

Titanic!

What the hell? I mean, it was a great movie don't get me wrong, and I'm sure the real thing was awesome--but naming your child that?! What do you think?

People give names that are really crazy to their child and then the child is ridiculed for the rest of his life. I know of a family who gave a name in french to their baby and it meant " mosquito! ". This is nice to give a name that is rare and unusual but some forget about the meaning and do not care at all to give a handicap to their child right from birth. I believe there is some kind of new rules or perhaps law that would prevent that. The government registration I thibk would not allow certain combination of names.

I am sorry but your parents came up the one of the most horrible
name I ever heard of. All the beautiful names you could give a child and that is not of one of them. Your new sister or brother
will be constantly talked about bad when he or she gets older
.I feel sad your parents giving this terrible name to your new brother or sister.

Well, most people name their children something specific because of the meaning....

Titanic means: "Having great stature or enormous strength" and "Of enormous scope, power, or influence"

Looked at like that, then it's not such a bad name.

Now compared to the movie, or it being a name of a ship that sank, then yes, I agree it would be a bad name.

:)

doesn't surprise me...
I worked for Texas Medicaid for a while and we had an issue where our electronic sytem wouldn't accept a claim because the child's name was James 007 Bond. The system would accept the zero in the middle name.
I've also seen a few others that are questionable.

Poor child. Some parents just don't get it. It may be funny for 10 minutes, but not for a lifetime.

I don't think I would name my child titanic, but my son was born on the day the titanic sank, so we joke around that he is not having temper fits, he is having titanic fits.

I don't think I'd name my child Titanic, but I guess that's up to the parents and if they like it, I'm ok with it :-)
