Yes, look at the biblical account that the person listed above.
Samson was famous for his affair with Delilah. She was a Phillistine (not well liked by Samson and his people) and when he fell for her, she cut his hair. His hair was the source of his amazing strength that was given to him by God. I can't remember too much else btu I remember he was enslaved and went blind. He prayed to God so that he could have revenge. He did. When they placed him between two pillars, he crumbled the entire Phillistine temple with his strength.
Now, the song could be about Samson and Delilah...the history books didn't mention "us." She'd "done alright." Perhaps Spektor is saying that the account was wrong, it didnt mention their love as it really was. Samson perhaps felt that his strength was less important than their love. He let himself be vulnerable to her.
Samson was also Delilah's downfall, she was labeled as a bad character forever because of the bible account. As for the "wonder bread" part. Perhaps she's saying that the real strength of God is spiritual, "the bread of life," you know, "God is sustinince," "the bread of God" type thing. Maybe thats what shes saying mattered to Samson in his relationship with God.
OR it could be a "Samson-like figure" and a woman (Regina or another character perhaps). They couldn't actually bring any columns down because he's not the actual biblical samson. But he made himself vulnerable to her and it was alright with him. He was still fulfilled (wonderbread). Their love mattered more so than anything else (I loved you first).
Hope those speculations help.

Well, there's a story from biblical times about Samson and Delilah. Read this entry, and then look at the lyrics again.
