First you have to determine what a terrorist is. George Washington would be considered a terrorist. President Castro was considered a terrorist, the American Government conducts terrorist acts all over the world in an attempt to influence foreign governments and place into power leaders they can control. What usually happens is those leaders end up being tyrants that commit acts of genocide and when they are finally removed from power it leaves the people with resentment towards Americans.

First off, I am a conservative. Not a neo-con.

Now then...how do you know who the terrorists are? Someone who recognizes that Bush is a horrible president? Whatever happened to innocent until PROVEN guilty in a court of law?

If you are an American citizen you have rights, no matter what. If you are accused of terrorist activities it is YOUR RIGHT, as stated in the Constitution, to have a fair trial.

Unless you consider the Constitution to be a pro-terrorist document now....

I agree with Kate. anyone not convicted of terrorism has the same rights as anyone else (which are growing fewer by the day, it seems)

If you're convicted though, you only have the right to the rest of you life in a solitary confinement cell, however long that may last. the only other right? protection from cruel and unusual punishment. And be thankful for that- many other nations don't have that enshrined in their laws.

Anyone accused or suspected of terrorism has the same rights as do you and I. That includes the right to speak freely, the right to assemble, the right against unreasonable search and seizure, the right to a trial by jury, the right to confront one's accusers, and the right to due process of law (not being convicted except where there can be no reasonable doubt).

And I don't care whether that person is in the US or not. Those are our Constitutional rights, but also human rights.

Anyone CONVICTED of terrorism is another story. They have only the right to be free from cruel and unusual punishment. I think the death penalty is cruel and unusual, but at least that is a grounds on which reasonable persons can disagree.

The same rights as all Americans have. Does it not give you pause for thought that of the 3500 internees at Gitmo, fully 40% have been released because they did nothing wrong? Bush's stripping of constitutional protections for those HE considers terrorists is sickening.

Liberals want terrorists from other nations, who want to destroy our nation to be protected as if they were citizens of the U.S. Funny thing is, if a terrorist is a U.S. citizen, we can hang them under military law.

Under the Bush doctrine, terrorists seem to have more rights than Americans. the terrorists grow stronger, bolder, and more popular everyday, while Americans see their Constitutional rights pulled out from under them.
