Well there are 2 I know of that are absolutely free, one is project gutenberg... http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page

The other is a page with the works of only one author, Jack London his books and stories are extremely well written, you may know of White Fang and Call of the Wild both were written by him and can be read online free along with hundreds of his short stories and several other novels... http://london.sonoma.edu/Writings/
