They're related but they're not the same. Thinking is just when you wonder about something, but concentrating is deep thinking.

Yes there is a difference between them. We are always thinking about something. But sledom do we concentrate on anything. Anything that pops into your head is a thought, but only when you focus on it & shut out all other thoughts are you concentrating.

Right - there is!

I can think about an answer to a question,

But I concentrate on what I want for a career.
I'm also concentrating on a corvette for Christmas. I already asked Santa at the local mall (Pennsylvania) and I told him I waited last year, and this year I'm still waiting. He said this year for me!

So I'm concentrating on the color when he arrives with my Vette!
I think hunter green is good, what do you think?
GOD bless.

They could both tie in together at certain points. For instance, say I'm hungry and an image forms in my brain of a huge Black Forest Cake with whipping cream- I'm not really concentrating on this because it's not really doing much work on my brain; whereas, say I have to remember a formula for a Calculus exam- I have to read the material over and over again in order to keep it in mind. I would say that concentrating involves thinking but thinking does not always have to involve concentrating. Concentrating involves working to think harder if that helps!
Another example to relate to this is position theory in physics. At a certain point in time, you may be located at a certain area in your house (you're there without really concentrating but you know that you're there because you're thinking); whereas, you may need to accelerate or go at a certain speed to reach that destination in your house (like how fast am I going or how much faster do I need to go to reach that area of the house at a particular time- requires more effort).

Concentration is really thinking HARD. Thinking is a simple task-but concentration takes energy.

Yes, I'm thinking about the TV, a guy, my friends, finals, home, and many things (if not all at once) but when you Concentrate your focusing on one certain idea and things that relate to it.

Thinking is more random and unfocused, as concentrating implies focus and purpose.

Thinking = static (dense information field)

Concentration = mandala (symbolic matrix)

You can think on many things but when you concentrate, you focus on ONE thing.

Not the same.
Thinking is a general term for mental activity.
Concentrating is focused thinking. Thinking on one subject to the exclusion of others, focusing one's attention is concentrating.
Math study is concentration.
Daydreaming is thinking.
Okay?
