Two words: "gay dar" For real. It exists and sometimes you just "know."

They ask them... or they see what they think about gays in a kind of roundabout way. They look for hidden clues. And some, not so hidden. For example, many gays when they're ashamed of coming out will do ridiculous homophobic things, but then later they'll talk about how they have secret gay feelings. Ironic, isn't it?
We also find out if somebody is gay or not if their sexuality can be reflected in us. It's pretty difficult, if not impossible, for a pure straight man to reflect the sexuality of a gay man, but another gay man will do it naturally. This doesn't mean that we're going to fall in love with every gay man we see, but we just... 'know' like that other person said. It's kind of a feeling like you've been to the exact same place as the other person. Just the same place though, not that you have all the same values in life, more like ...you were in the same "town" or something, even if you weren't.
It's like you just know you have at least ONE thing in common even if it's just that one thing. Again, the two people might hate each other, but they'll still know.

Yes the classic, Gay Dar! :) from their fashion sense, their mannerisms, or for me at least I can tell by their eyes. It's like you look into them and you see something shine.
Other ways are related through the body, such as Pheromones. Pheromones are special scents that the human body emits to attract others. For a straight guy it attracts women & vise versa. However, in gay men their pheromone is different and attracts other gay males; same type of effect for lesbians.

I compare it to the "motherly instict" you just know. Especially when someone is attracted to you. Sometimes they don't even have to say a thing, you just know. And no, I am not narcissistic.

It's called Gaydar and most gays have it but work on it to improve their skill at it.
